The original Trash Monkey and all
of his current (and future) siblings were the brain children of college
friends and roommates Andrew Zarbo and Scott Fairley
while in their senior year at the University of New
Hampshire.
With a mutual love of all things
monkeys, and the notion that everybody, everywhere,
believed monkeys to be as comical as they did, the idea
to create a line of t-shirts using a universally silly monkey to appeal to a person's likes, interests,
and/or hobbies came to them in a flash of brilliance.
Scott: "You know man, monkeys are just
too darned funny..."
Zarbo: "I know, right? I mean, who
doesn't love them? Everyone secretly
(or not-so-secretly) wishes they had a pet monkey."
Scott: "For real! We should
give people a shirt with a funny monkey on it.
We should probably put it in a trash can. That would make people happy..."
Zarbo: "I agree. There's no way
anybody could be in a bad mood with a silly
monkey strapped to their chest all day. It
must be done..."
...and so the shirts were born.
As the phenomenon continues to
grow, more monkeys will surely join the mix, to the pleasure
of dozens. You know that old saying about
"multiplying like bunnies"? Well, they were wrong;
it's the monkeys that are out of control!
They dubbed him "Nigel Q. Monkington"...
